But.. you get 9 virtual lives per realm. and none of them pay tax(although I think the commision payable to the auction house is a bit steep)
I'd like to add to this thread, as I too am a n00b (I play Guild Wars). I've got a few questions, so I'd really appreciate some answers/comments.
A friend brought me a 14-day trial DVD from the UK when he came down recently. So I installed it, and after 1.2 GIGs of patches (yes), I was up and running. I clicked "suggest realm" and created a character. I realize now that this was a mistake. My character is now on the Alonsus realm, and every evening, I have to wait in the queue, sometimes for hours!
What's weird though, is that my position in the queue goes up and down sometimes, and the time-estimate is horribly innaccurate.
Anyway, the questions follow:
1.) I'm almost level 20. I believe that the trial doesn't let me go further. That true?
2.) I am DEFINITELY buying the game. It is R299 in the shops here, and £9.95 on Amazon.co.uk. Am I correct in assuming that I can just buy it online from Amazon and have it delivered to a friend's house. He can then Email me my key? I don't need the discs as I have the game already, right?
3.) Do you recommend that I abandon this character and switch to a different realm which isn't "full" all the time? Why did WoW suggest it?
4.) What sort of pings should I be getting? In reality, my pings seem to fluctuate around 450-500ms. Are the US servers faster?
5.) How are you guys paying via Credit Card? The only way I've seen that I can get playtime is via "prepaid cards".
Right, I think that's about it. Any comments appreciated guys.

You need help dude, pity I can't give it. Queuing thing doesn't sound right; you are being bumped (now that rings a bell

Perhaps I am being bumped because I am still a trial account...? I hope that's it, because I'm going to buy when I get back from New Year. I only wish I could buy the Key online. It kills me to have to pay R299 for it here when it's ten squid in the UK.

C'mon man read the sticky before u ask questions that have been answered 50 times.
500ms is completely playable and is not bad at all, it can differ a lot depending on what connec u have.Im not going into that as other ppl already have done so repeatedly.
U should look for a ZA populated server and start over there.It simply isnt worthwhile to do a paid char transfer for a lvl 20 char.(The trial is capped at 20)
Since u already have the game just buy a cdkey(READ THE STICKY FOR LINKS)
There are many debates for and against US and EU.EU time is close to ours while we are 7 hours ahead of the US but everyone speaks english there(this may be less of an issue now that the LFG channel has been replaced)

FYI, I cannot buy a CD key online for my trial account. The trial accounts that you create online allow this, but a 14-day bought trial, does not. I had no choice but to buy a retail box. Add that to your sticky.

unless you know someone overseas in the UK who can go and buy a version of the game and send you the CD key then youll have to stick to SA m8!!
then you going to have to worry about getting your hands on the expansion pack which is prolly gonna be released here about 1-3 weeks later than the first world.Youll still be able to play the original WOW but you wont have any access to the new content.
as ive mentioned in many posts before "wait " for the expansion to come out and all the bugs to settle then go and get yourselve WOW+TBC and youll be sorted!

First of all if you don’t want to wait in a queue to join the game just reroll or transfer you char to another realm that’s not full I’m on twisting nether with a population of low to medium and I have never had to wait in a queue to join and never had any problems finding people for instances and groups, and with the cross realm BG you never have to wait to join there either. With buying the game just go to take2 and buy it, all of my friends got a copy that way, with out any problems, but you can also go another route, if you have a copy of the game already there is a web site you can go to and buy the game online and then they email you a photo of your cd key that’s how I got my copy. If you want the web site url let me know I will dig up the email
