Noob question on USB connections

Could you tell me why my front ports only copy at around 600KBs and my back ports copy at around 20MBs?

Could you tell me why large external works on the back port, but not on the front port? Though the small external works on both ports but at a limited speed on the front port?

USB1.1. Really sound like thats the problem. USB1.1 had pitiful speeds, and was not powered either iirc. If its actually is using USB2 ports, then your motherboard is whack

Thats what I thought Strange that still had USB 1 on dual-core board then? Dammit, I wish I was at home right now

I would say, w1zrd, that your front port although it well may be 2.0 , is only configured to run in the low speed mode for whatever reason, maybe PCB design, etc.

A USB 2.0 compliant device is not required to support high-speed mode. This allows cheaper devices to be produced if the speed isn’t critical. This is also the case for a low speed USB 1.1 devices which is not required to support full speed.

However a high speed device must not support low speed mode. It should only support full speed mode needed to connect first, then high speed mode if successfully negotiated later. A USB 2.0 compliant downstream facing device (Hub or Host) must support all three modes, high speed, full speed and low speed.

When I get home Ill see what model it is. I dont even know the make Its really not important. Only hardware I know the brand and make of is my Nvida GFX card
