Hey all,

I know this is a sub par question, but i'm at a bit of a loss.

I am going travelling for the time time to the states in June, I want to make sure I've got a Camera to capture the moments,
I know nothing about Camera's, I want cheap so I started look at second hand DSLR's but was put off the thought of all the other stuff I'd have to take with me.

I am a big outdoors person, so I started thinking GoPro5 as then it would have uses afterwards for vlogs etc, but as an actual camera I cant find many reviews, I realize its designed for videos.

Upgrading my phone to the S9 or Sony ZX.

On a side note, I did also look at the Cannon g7x but price wasn't really feasible.

I think the phone option is probably the best, but thought I'd ask the experts!

Unless your aim is loads of photography, rather just take a phone and not have to worry about a camera the whole time. If you do get a camera imo get a compact / bridge, not a bulky DSLR.

I wouldn't waste my money with a gopro unless you're planning on doing activities that lend themselves to that sort of look.

I travel with an EOS-M with a few light lenses and cellphone when I'm not working.

I'd still keep your current phone as a spare assuming it is also a flagship device, you may want to invest in a small handheld stabilizer
