Noshing on Raspberry Pi

There’s a quiet revolution taking place in the world of electronics and it’s being led by ordinary people, writes Alistair Fairweather.

Anywhere besides mantech you can buy them in JHB? Don't want the pain of importing myself...

Where can I get one in CT ? Tried the international route twice and was let down by peeps. Gave up already months ago of ever owning one. Kinda lost little interest to be honest

This is awesome I wish I had something like this growing up. I was forced to tinker on our family computer which I always ended up breaking.

I really wan't to buy one, but the lead times are insane last time I checked :(

Post office have lost mine ( or something )

ordered the original one about 12 weeks ago , it got delayed but I got the upgraded 512mb version. it was dispatched and I never got it. :(

but the nice people are sending me another one for FREE imagine that. ( although its taking forever)

oh mine is coming from RS Electronics in the UK

Bought mine from RS Computers, paid over R800 including import duties and VAT. Loaded Openelec, and now running XBMC through it. Controlling Openelec via XBMC remote control app loaded on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Works like a charm. Can even download add ons to Openelec (Video streaming, internet radio, News, etc, etc)

Well worth the investment.

RS Electronics South Africa? I bought one 2 weeks ago, got it a week ago. R509 for Raspberry Pi, Power unit, and R75 for courrier.

Anyone know of the replica types that came out supporting ubuntu with a bit more RAM? I remember there was a chinese one with 1GB RAM and other goodies to make it beefy :D

Got mine ages ago - from when the original orders opened up - had it up and running, then moved rooms - need to reconnect and setup openelec I think

wow, that's expensive. Where do they get the R250 figure from?

That's more or less what I paid - maybe he ordered a box (built mine out of lego) , power supply (used an old cellphone charger) and memory card (had one left over from older camera) as well
