In the last two weeks I have been experiencing repeated "Not registered on network" on my Samsung Galaxy Note 2. I have been able to rectify the problem by rebooting the phone, but I should not have to do this.

My previous phone, a Samsung Wave, was never rebooted during the entire two years that I used it.

Research indicates that it might be SIM card related, but why would start completely out of the blue. The card has been in the new phone or three months without any problems. It has not been fiddled with, and the phone has not been damaged or tampered with in any way.

Has anybody else experienced a similar issue?

Could still be a faulty SIM. Had a similar issue with MTN a few years ago, the SIM would just start acting up and drop signal and connection.

Also, have you manually selected MTN as the network on your device?

Also check your roaming settings. Your phone is perhaps trying to roam on an MTN partner network, which it should only do when abroad.

I sometimes have same problem on my Note 2 as well and I am using Vodacom. I have to restart phone all the time it happens, which is 3 to 4 times a month

I have similair problems with my S3 on Vodacom. It seams whenever I go through an area where there is no signal then the phone doesn't re-register on the network.

3G or LTE model?

Had that issue on my S2, took the sim out and cleaned the sim and connectors, problem went away.
