Right, so I have a fancy Note 5 which has just updated to marshmallow.

At the office we have sbs 2003 with exchange for our emails.

Being a non IT minded bloke I am totally stumped trying to set up outlook on my new Note 5

Previously, I would access my email via the mimecast app. This is still an option BUT defeats the object of having my calendar, tasks, contacts etc all synchronized.

Can somebody point me in the right direction here on how to set this all up?

As i recall its a bit of a mission with SBS 2003 and exchange 2003.

First of all make sure the server & exchange are fully updated, with exchange having all the service packs. Install the certificate on your phone from the server manually.

Theres a few more things one needs to do. See how far you get and post back here.

Thanks poem, how the heck do i install the cert on the phone? I have updated it on the server, now how do I get it to the phone?

The easiest way should be on the initial stages of adding the exchange account to the phone. It should ask to allow certificate whereby you can view the certificate and install it.

Is your server internet facing?

Yes it is. No option is asked when setting it on the phone

Thanks Peon, will do that when behind the pc tomorrow.

Nah, if the server is internet facing, meaning its accessible from the internet then I could run the tests. You could create a dummy account for me on the server and I could take it from there.

Thanks for the offer, i will give it a whirl in the morning. I need to learn these things

Right so i installed the Microsoft RDP app and can access the server from the note 5.

no luck, I exported the fresh certificate and installed it on the note but still cannot get the setup top work.

When I set up a VPN connection for my email when offsite, we work through a dyndns, do I need this when setting up exchange active sync on the note?

Bliksem - there must be an idiots guide somewhere?

Can you give the error msg when going to settings, Accounts, add account, Microsoft Exchange activesync and the fill in the details.

Click bottom left, manual setup and use the same dyndns as the server name.

I will try and post a screenshot as soon as I workout how to do that as well lol

Pull out the pen and click on the button on the pen close to the screen without touching the screen with the pen.
Select screen write and just save the image which you can post here.
