The battery suddenly drops to almost dead within a few minutes.

The area of the CPU also get very hot to the touch. In fact, this only really happens when the CPU is hot.

This was happening more often in games like Real Racing 3, but last night it happened while browsing.

It is still under warranty, but do i need to take it to Vodacom, or direct to Samsung repair center?

I had a similar issue with mine last year. Random spikes and drops in battery life, it would then charge to 100% in 45 mins (instead of ~4 hours), then drop to 0% in 30 minutes again. After taking to Samsung Care Centre (which was a whole other mess), they recommended I remove Candy Crush. Which I didn't even play.

Bottom line, after talking to one of the techs, he said all these games etc that have run in background/run at start up permissions would need to be removed one by one, so I could see which one was affecting the battery. Since I don't play games anyway (just installed a few like Asphalt and Iron Man to see the graphics), I removed all of them. Problem solved.

I eventually ended up flashing it anyway, but taking off all the games did solve the problem. I didn't have Real Racing installed though, so I can't tell you which one it was. There was some talk over at XDA about manually reseating the battery yourself, but I didn't want to go that route since it was still under warranty.

Had the same problem. The solution is to disconnect the battery for a minute or so and then reconnect. Seems there is an issue with the Note 8 battery monitor chip.

You can request a Samsung centre to do it or if you're brave and careful, do it yourself like i did. No problems since.

P. S. I also play real racing on my note 8. Never had that issue again. What android version are you running?

4.4.2

I wont take it apart myself, they can do it.

It was easy to take it off. It only cost me two thumb fingernails. But it left no signs that it has been opened.

It is already much better.

Glad you were successful. I used a guitar plectrum to open mine seeing that i bite my nails. :p
