Hi Guys,

I have a Note pro 12.2 LTE (P905). This tablet is on contract from MTN. Its not rooted or anything of that sort. All software and firmware is original.

This weekend I noticed that the android 5.0 update was available and I downloaded it over the KIES software. (XFM - MTN version)

After the long update I switched on to lollipop and noticed the following.

My S-Pen curser is like 2-3mm off.

It was not like this before the update but appears inaccurate now after the lollipop update. There do not seem to be any calibration settings on the tablet at all.

I tried the following:

1. Online suggestions mentioned that I should sun the pen over the edges to re-calibrate - That didnt work.
2. I do not have any case with magnets etc on it which will affect the device.
3. I Restarted the device.
4. I have a note 3 and used my note pro s-pen on the note 3 - It is accurate on the note 3.
5. I used the note 3 s-pen on the Note pro - I still get the inaccuracy.
6. There was a suggested app called reset s-pen but thats not supported or compatible anymore.
7. The device has not been dropped etc

This seems like a software issue which occurred only after updating to lollipop.

My device is on contract with MTN and is nearly 2 years old.

I am concerned as i use this for writing/drawing etc.

Can anyone please help me :(

I see I have got the update available to lolipop on my Note Pro 12.2 this morning , think Ill wait before doing the update and make sure there are no bugs . I use my S Pen extensively daily so I dont want to run into any issues with loss of accuracy .

Hope you find a solution and keep us posted .

Have you seen in functional changes etc with the lolipop besides just the material design ? Do you think the update was worth it (aside from the issues with the S Pen you are now facing) ?

I will contact a Samsung repair center and see what a tech says.

I noticed that art applications like LayerPaint and Sketchbook have their own cursor which works accurately. Its clearly seen that the Touchwiz cursor is like 2-3mm off.

If i switch off the main S-pen cursor in settings, and use the application cursor within those apps for diagrams etc....then the app cursors built in the app for pen or brush tools work accurate.

Its just the system cursor that's off. It seems like a software issue. I hope i find a resolution before handing it in to the service center.

I hate any of my devices being tampered with. I keep them like gold and they never come back the same :(

Have you noticed any Bluetooth pairing issues since the update ? Apparently lots of people complained of pairing issues with external Keyboards etc after the update . Think I'll give lollipop a skip for now, honestly I am happy with the way my Note Pro runs as is . I'll wait and see if the issues reported online are sorted first before taking the plunge my side .

I will try Bluetooth when i get home. I haven't tried it out as yet because the cursor is the first thing i noticed. While the tablet is noticeably faster....i regret doing the update. This is an expensive piece of hardware and it just got messed up with an official update.

I called the Samsung repair center. They said that it seems like a software glitch. They can re-load the version of android on it. or maybe roll back to the previous version.

I will ask them to try lollipop first and if its still inaccurate then roll back to the last one. which was kitkat

Geez I hope they don't mess up anything. I hate these terrible inconveniences.

You're gonna lose everything so do a Sync backup or use Super Backup & Restore from the store to backup contacts and SMSs. Unfortunately for games you're going to have to rely on synching to Facebook or Google+/Play Games or developer accounts (like King etc).

Thanks for the tip. Really sucks to go through all this when the update should have worked.

From searches online, I am not hearing good things about lollipop. I rather roll back to kit kat and stability.

Hope it sorts out all the issues . Im staying with KitKat for now , it does everything I need of it and Iv got no issues with it . Hopefully Samsung get all the bugs sorted on the Lollipop update as it would be nice to update sometime , but Ill wait and see . I use my tablet extensively daily for work and personal , so Im not going to risk the update yet .

Did you get your Note Pro sorted ? Are you still running the Lollipop update or have you gone back ?

I took the device to the Samsung service center last Saturday and explained the issue. They booked it in for repairs. When I went to pick it up on Wednesday the idiots misunderstood and reset my tablet instead of fixing the issue.

I left It back with them. They called back on Thursday saying that a re-flash of the lollipop firmware didn't help. They even tried a new screen apparently. If they cannot resolve the issue, I may end up getting my device replaced for a new one.

I have not heard from them today regarding a replacement. They did mention that they are sending an email to Samsung because it looks like an actual bug in the MTN lollipop firmware.

I may either get a new device or they may actually correct the buggy firmware.

I told them I am not expecting any less because its an expensive tablet which I am still paying for which is within warranty. And that the official firmware messed it up.

Will keep you updated on my next response.
