Note taking app needed

I just tested my one note offline.

Not sure what the issue is? It works just offline as per your requirements , it will just sync when you are connected to the net.

My OneNote could not create new notes or edit notes offline. Not sure why yours is different.

I have installed Ever note, and it works offline. Not sure why they mention you need premium $5 mode to access stuff offline. Its very polished so I am putting all my text notes into it.

So far, so good.

I'm using the android one my phone. I don't see how it can be any different from other note taking apps in terms of offline, not all are live note taking apps.

Syncing to the cloud doesn't mean it needs a constant connection to make it work. It just updates what changes you have made.

I had it installed on my lenovo a3000 and Samsung s2 and in both cases it could not create a new note in air plane mode or with mobile data connection disabled.

I checked my data usage when data was on and I created notebooks, and it used data.

I'm very interested in seeing what you find. I quite like papyrus, but really would like to see handwriting to text conversion. Samsung's S-note is trying, but is way too clunky (also doesn't have the kind of save options you're looking for).

I dislike the evernote philosophy so would be keen to see whatever pops up.

What about the philosophy don't you like?

At this point, Ever note seems best suites to my needs.
Have you looked at what it wants to access on your device? Makes me more than wary...

I must admit that I did not check, I usually do. Where can I see that list now?

To my knowledge Google saved your docs to the cloud, with offline viewing, not editing. I may be wrong.

You are wrong. Internet is only to sync changes to server and other devices.

OK, let's assume that I am wrong. Where on my memory card or phone memory are the files saved?

My Google Drive also cannot create new documents without being online, just tested it. That alone is a deal breaker for me.

Yes, thats the same point I'm trying to make. It would be nonsensical to require the internet to access /edit your notes.

Seems there's a confusion, when we talk Google note taking we meant the Google Keep app.

I'm also certain you can use it offline like one note , only requires internet to sync.

Maybe check for recent app updates on your devices? I'm personally not a fan of ever note due to the size limitation paywall but that's just me.

I apologise for the confusion. I do keep mentioning drive, but regarding Google keep:

1. Google has started and ended many services (re: Google Reader, Wave) and how do we know they won't cancel Keep in the near future?

2. It can take notes while offline

3. I can't see a folder structure, like Ever note has notebooks with notes in it, Keep has a lot of loose notes.

I am being difficult, I know. Its who I am.

You can also try Color Note.

I used to have that on my phone and tablet. I want to be able to add to my notes from a computer, so the web interface of Evernote should work for that.

Color note doesn't have folders, or a nested structure. Great for simple to do lists. Maybe a phrased my original question wrong, I now want to build a database of information.

Number 3 is a problem for me too. I always have to search for a note. Directories or groups will be a welcome addition along with on-device storage.

Evernote! Evernote! Evernote!

+3

I've never seen anyone this picky about note apps, or as unwilling to try one. Only problem I had with Evernote was that it didn't accept handwriting, but even that has now changed.

I just started using Evernote today and so far so good. I think I got free premium membership as well with my note 2014 edition.
