NOTE TO ALL

In a recent mybroadband.co.za article, it stated that Telkom had applied for an INCREASE IN ANALOGUE LINE RENTAL, and if I'm not mistaken, from September it is to increase to R93 (will a moderator please correct if this figure is off). I just thought this should be brought to everyone's attention as they are still referring in threads to costs, specifically the cost of ADSL as R270 (ADSL line rental) + R### (ISP) + R87 (This being the incorrect figure) (Analogue Rental)

Especialy when we are already paying so much for line rental and ISP costs, R6 is like a can of soda.

that is however scaley of telkom, if they lower prices of 1 thing they just increase the price of something else...

Im sure that R6 wont dent our wallets too much

nice way to look at it. R1000 is also not enough to dent some peoples wallet but does not change the fact that it is wrong. With that R6 increase, what benifits as a consumer are you getting. Are they giving you new copper wire, an upgrade of some sorts or will you just have the same over priced service and over priced calls?

and keep in mind that with ADSL you are forced to have phone line, so the two products seems more like one, artificially separated into two to look each cheaper.

The problem is this is what Telkom will always do when ICASA forces it to lower prices, and what it has always done. Nothing new, and people never seem to realise it.

With 4 million customers (and i think there are more) thats an extra R336 000 000 per year for Telkom, talk about a drain on the economy
