Dear forum users,

It seems the Note5 in Johannesburg is doing well as I'm struggling to find stock with Vodacom, can anyone else confirm this?

I have not tried to phone the different stores in Johannesburg, a Vodacom rep in Northgate today told me there is no stock with the surrounding stores and expects stock next week.

Also is everyone currently happy with their Note5?

The guy in the shop was trying to convince me to get a LG G4, I said there's no ways he's going to convince me.

I've become accustomed to the stylus and I like the Super AMOLED screens.

Note 5 is a really good phone. Dont take the LG G4 seems they getting an incentive to sell the phone hence them trying to convince everyone to buy it. Tried the same thing with me.

Have you considered the Note4?

The Note5 is a downgrade of note(pardon the pun).
 
Maybe I should go for the Note 4, I do actually swap the battery out and use the extra battery kit and I use the IR port of which the Note5 doesn't have either.

Thing is I don't want to spend so much for a phone that's already getting outdated, the Note6 will come out this year and I might regret getting the Note4.

Pros of the Note4:
- IR
- Replaceable battery
- SD Card Slot

Pros of the Note5:
- New 14nm CPU technology, faster, uses less battery
- Slightly better camera (and takes photos noticeably faster)
- Slightly better screen
- Some gimmicky features like being able to write on the screen with the stylus even when the screen is off

Damn, tough choice.

Maybe I should look at a Nexus.

Also loved my Note 4 and couldn't decide if it will be worth it going to Note 5, in the end I went for the 5 and believe me I haven't regretted it once.
Sure I miss my sd card but that's it, the rest all better than note 4.

Doesn't like you used to control your TV with your phone's IR port. Makes life so much easier.
 
Suppose that's true if you use it, but don't watch TV that much.
 
Note 4 has been discontinued at Vodacom.

I have been looking for it the whole December to replace my trusty but broken Note 2. None of the branches around Pretoria even bother help me to get the device. They all tried to make me take out the Note 5. Eventually I went for the G4, but passed it to my wife.

Wait for the S7 or S7 plus,launching in Feb.

OR

Go to cellucity or vodacom.co.za for the Note 5.The vodacom website has all the colours of the Note 5.

Dont get a LG.It is a poor mans Samsung.

LG is getting there but isn't as good as Samsung yet.

False about LG. They are very good
 
I do think LG is pretty decent nowadays.

I do however feel that they are not on par with Samsung with a couple things.

I decided to go with the Note5, they phoned me yesterday to let me know they had stock, luckily I have 14 days to return the device to Vodacom if I'm not happy with it. I doubt I'll be doing that though, so far I'm very impressed, the fingerprint reader is instantaneous, the device is just so super snappy.

It's a let down that it has no IR, I'll just have to use the projector's remote, like a damn animal.

I thought about the Note4 but I'm not really keen to get an old Note4 when the Note6 is coming out this year.

I also like how comfortable it is to hold, the phone is extremely premium feeling and the stylus is also so much better.

It's also ever so slightly smaller than the note4, length, height, width and weight and still has the same size screen.
