Notebook screen backlight?

If 'blown' can it be fixed and how much?

Afaik the screen has to be replaced. Cheaper than a new notebook, but not worth it from my pov. If you find a way, I'm interested - I have an old notebook still worth running, but can currently only be used with an external monitor.

chances are the backlight isnt blown, just the invertor is blown.. Take it to someone who can tell the difference.
If it is the backlight, then perhaps it can be fixed, but it is diy, wiht a 20% chance of success. Most places will replace the whole screen, as the backlight isnt a replaceable part. If it is the invertor, then just test the fuse/s on the invertor, often they go first.
