Nothing based on Ubuntu or close to Ubuntu works.

I have a old Amd Sempron system here at work, the Windows 7 got infected with malware and I decided to load a Linux Os. On almost every live image I boot from it boots to the desktop and then the screen goes all stripie and hangs. What can cause this? I have been working with Linux for years and this is the first time I ever came across such a stubborn problem.

That should work.

Otherwise if you think it is a debian base that is causing the issues, try something based on Arch?

Acpi mode off works nice so far, very happy. Thanks for you and the rest who suggested it. Now to mod Lubuntu so it looks nice haha.

What does that have to do with anything?

His debian Base os doesn't work, neither does it on my pc.

Rhel based oses works and thus I ditched the bloated Ubuntu fir fedora ages ago

Hence Fedora ftw

I like Fedora. I was a bit scared of app support back in the day, xbmc and all that. But it has been a couple of years since I tried it. Will give it a shot, thanks.
