Meanwhile, in an exclusive interview with the Sunday Times given as the party made final preparations for yesterday's rally, Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe warned of a growing trend in society in which citizens rely too much on the government. He said it was "not sustainable" for the state to have more than 13 million people dependent on social grants.

"People want houses, they want this and they want that. For free, for free! Where have you ever heard of such a thing?" asked Motlanthe.

Did they not hear this from the ANC?

But it is nice to see that somebody in the ANC has realised this, but I do not know how they going to undo the damage they did.

Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe where have you been living? The ANC is always promising people free houses, grants and on top of all 5 Million Jobs.

This was the first thing they promised in the early 90's.
He must be a bloody under cover agent if he does not know this..

The president's speech set the tone for the ANC's upcoming local government elections campaign with him declaring 2011 "a year of job creation".

Hasn't he promised this before? And again before that?

And in the same article:

Announcing the radical change on the higher education funding front, Zuma said third-year students "registered at a public university" and who "qualify for funding from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme" would receive a loan "equivalent to the full cost" of study - including living expenses.

"If these students graduate at the end of the year, the loan for the final year will be converted to a full bursary. They will not have to repay the amount," he said to applause.

He said the move was in line with the ruling party's commitment to the provision of free education up to undergraduate level and that "this model will be phased in over the next few years to include students in earlier years".

This was the first thing they promised in the early 90's.
He must be a bloody under cover agent if he does not know this..

It's odd though, the ANC government have always opposed BIG. Something the DA supported, maybe as a way to get the black vote?
