I've been in the United Kingdom for 3 weeks and havent visited this forum in about a month.

Two family members in the UK have broadband. Both using different subscribers. One on a 1.5mb line and the other on a 2.2mb line. Prices are very similar, about 15 pound. None of the 2 are downloaders as such. A song here and there, mostly games, surfing and email. No cap.

My family are not dependant on their connections, but they are not that IT literate. Once i showed them what is possable with the type of lines they have,,,,,, i opened a whole world of ideas for them.

Its pathetic that we are still stuck in this situation in south africa with telkom.

If i heard it once i heard it 40 times....... "You live in a third world country filled with corruption and deceipt"

God save us because our goverment wont.

Well to sum up the situation in a few words.. Telkom = monopoly & money hungry - holding the Internet and telecommunications at ransom. Minister of communications & government = don't give a crap, likes the talk but it only seems to stay at talking. Icasa = big chief sleeping on the job. Consumers = at Telkom's mercy - End result: no commpition, no innovation, most expensive and worst Internet the world, lagging economy, etc.etc..
