Notice Period

Hello

I need some assistance. I landlord is the new owner of the property that I am in. I do not have a lease agreement with him. My previous lease agreement cancelled with the old owner and I then went on a month to month with the old owner.
I do not have a lease with the new owner. I am on a month to month verbal agreement.
I gave him notice on the 17th of August 2017 to move on the 31st of August 2017.

He is insisting on a months notice period. He is also threatening to deduct the period from the 1st of September 2017 to the 17th of September from my deposit.

I don't have the option to find someone to rent the place as he wants to move in at the end of September 2017 as his lease ends then only.

What can I do here.

Please help..

Didn't you post this before?
 
No contract...no problem.

But learn from this and insist on a contract in future as it benefits both parties equally.
 
You have a verbal agreement that it is month to month. It's the right thing to give a proper months notice. If I were the landlord I would also keep your deposit.
 
I am looking for another place as he informed me that he wants to move in as he bought the place.

Did he give you a date? Then he gave you the notice to move out. You don't have to give notice back in return. Wtf

You should only talk to each other and agree upon a suitable date.
