Hi.

Looks like the Novatel Wireless U630 software from MTN doesn't like Internet Explorer 7 (which is a problem because it requires the IE engine to operate).

Zeepe711 and Phoenix barf completely and have to be closed in the task manager in order to get them to close.

How can I get an upgrade that fixes this problem ?

The card shouldn't be causing a problem with IE 7 have you checked your lan settings and everything within the browser - to ensure everything is set correctly?

Thanks for the response! The app does allow me to connect, but crashes shortly after with the error;

DDE server window: zeepe711.exe application error

The instruction at "0x61426711" referenced memory at "0x00084144". The memory could not be "read".

Click on OK to terminate the program

Good day,

Just one thing to bear in mind - IE7 is still a Beta version and there could be problems, maybe as a suggestion, Could you maybe email microsoft the error and maybe they can look into it for you as I'm pretty sure the card has nothing to do with it.

The error is not an IE error, but rather a Zeepe framework error. IE 7 is in beta 3 already, and will be released within a fairly short time-frame. As history goes, their Beta 3 product is not dramatically different from the final. Its probably worth MTN's while to actually start testing this, or wait until it explodes for everyone.

Given the fact that MTN haven't released a software update to this dialler in the year that I've had it , never mind know what I'm talking about when I phone the helpdesk, is indicative of what will happen :p

PS. Where on the MTN/SP site can I download firmware/software ? I don't see it anywhere.

Thanks. There must be updated Mobilink software out by now :-(

The inability of a large company like MTN to comprehensively answer this question is frankly shocking.

Any update(s) ?

Makes my head spin, the responsiveness of MTN.

Here's the solution.

Yay MTN - no free HSDPA upgrade, no resolution to problems, no interest, no software updates, no firmware updates, no interest

Good day,

khetan

I do apologize I was away for the better part of last week and only got back into the office today and tried getting to all the MYADSL query's today but had to get around to doing them tonight,

You are correct there no MTN are not giving HSDPA card's as upgrades but then again we're also not charging our subscribers anymore for using HSDPA, in terms of no resolution please bear in mind that I'm the only person on here replying to query's and as mentioned I wasn't in on Thursday or Friday so I do apologize for not replying sooner...........

I've passed this onto the device manager and I'll have him look into this ASAP

Thank you

Please don't take my dissatisfaction personally; it wasn't aimed at you :o Out of the whole MTN group, you're the only person whose bothered responding in a constructive manner

MTN not handing out HSDPA cards as upgrades and not charging for HSDPA usage is not related. As I see it, HSDPA usage is effectively more data usage, which equates to more billing revenue for MTN. So logically charging a premium for HSDPA usage would be counter-productive

As for not handing out upgrade cards, it is sad that Vodacom is upgrading all their consumers' 3G-only cards to HSDPA-capable cards, on the basis, again, that they'll use more bandwidth. So, Vodacom is not only acting in the best interests of the consumer, but also making more money doing so. Why MTN as an organisation doesn't see that confuses me

Anyway, lets hope I get an official solution from MTN.
