I've got this issue with the Novell Client on my Vista notebook. When I try to log on to the server the first time always gives me the 'server/tree not found' error but the second time I try (if I do it fast enough - say within 60seconds) it connects and all is fine. It looks like windows doesn't load the drivers for the network until you try to use it the first time...

It was the same way before I installed my firewall as it is now using one.

Does anyone know how to fix this (if it is a windows or Novell problem)?

(Please don't post comments like: your problem is Vista, use XP )

Vista + Novell.

We have 2 Vista notebooks at work that connect to our Novell server.

Both have the exact same config and Novell Client 1.0 for Vista.

They both take forever to connect and the one even blue screens every time you try and save a file on the Novell server.

Hoping Vista SP1 will fix this :(

Do people still use Novell? Last I rmbr using it was back in the 90's when the networks I was working on where still IBM Type 1 and coax, been a while since I played with it... if it's still around I'm interested :) May be fun to play with it agaiun, since I have been "spoilt" with MS networks :p

:D Yeah, we still use it, it is not close to as user friendly as the newer Windows products but it just keeps on running forever and never needs a reboot. Although I have 3 servers, Netware, Linux and Windows - each has their own part... Will never use Netware for databasing

Well, hope this is fixed by Vista SP1. Might have something to do with IPv6?

Thanks for the replies, at least I know I'm not the only one with problems.
