In a sweeping, cream bridal gown and her hair in a neat bun, newly married radio presenter Redi Direko tearfully left the Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Mulbarton, south of Johannesburg, as Redi Tlhabi yesterday afternoon.

That was after the couple had forgiven the man who married them, Father Oupa Gage, for mistakenly referring to them as "Mr and Mrs Direko" after declaring them wed.

Among the 400 invited guests were former Generations actress Phemelo Motene, Metro FM presenter Criselda Kananda, power couple Basetsana and Romeo Kumalo, and her Talk Radio 702 colleague David O'Sullivan.

In a simple ceremony led by another of her colleagues, Aki Anastasiou, Direko was seen pointing and issuing instructions, despite the fact that the man she was about to marry was seated next to her.

A choir sang hymns as she and her husband, Soweto general practitioner Dr Brian Tlhabi, stole looks at each other.

But while he remained composed, the former eNews presenter couldn't hide her excitement and constantly pulled her man's arms.

The couple, who got engaged on Valentine's Day and who had been in a relationship for more than four years, received advice from elders and their parents about marriage during the service.

Wow, that church is right around the corner from me! :D

I'm glad for her and think she is a great presenter!... but her voice grates me after a while... I can't listen to her for long periods :p

Good Luck Redi! ;)

Still beats listening to Jenny Crwys-Williams.

Now THAT makes me want to switch off the radio!

ja, agreed... they are about neck and neck with me. I listen to the lunch time show between 12 and 1 pm... and turn on the CD player during Redi or Jenny's show. :D

I think I went to that church 2 weeks ago? The one with the huge Mary statue?

Yes... the one that cost them several million Rand about 5 years ago... then it was too heavy for it's base and they had to fly to sculptor out from Italy to shave down the statue, then it got hit by lightning and split in half... then they bought a new one... for another several million Rand! :D That one.

Are we saying that God didn't like it?

I hope her husband is a plastic surgeon?
Never liked her Afrocentric pretentious giggly manner.

I am educated thanks ;)

Still think it's an odd name for a church.

Ja, the name comes from the Shrine in Lebanon. At first I also though it was cos they both have huge white statues of Mary out front... but those statues are just a small replica of the massive shrine in Lebanon.

Interesting also that Muslims also revere the shrine of Mary there in Lebanon.

We were looking at getting married there, they are quite strict and not really cheap either.

Dude...that church is cheese ass compared to the Rivonia one  Even just went in the shop for a look...the same bracelet at my church costs like R5 and they were charging like R30 :wtf:

Now I know why I left JHB - it was 702's fault - especially Redi, JCW & the guy who should be on right now - between 9pm - midnight. What an impression he has of himself. Also, the host of ''A word on .....'' loves herself.

Algoa FM's not much better for different reasons - can't take all the 'hit' music they keep on playing. Reminds me of 94.7 Highveld Stereo or Jacaranda FM.

I like her show(hear? :D) every once in a while. All the best for her and her husband.

I also like her show.
She is the only presenter who has the honesty & guts to say things as they are.
The rest of the Primedia lot are so politically correct that I want to puke.
