Anyone used the new OLX site?

Looks like a child might have designed designed it, nice purple colour scheme, cute user icons, limited functionality. Minimal migration of user data from the old site, they just moved over ads newer than a certain date and chopped all other ads including user favourite lists etc.

New "awesome" social network integration and user profiles, you can make best buds with the guy/girl that buys/sells whatever the next deal it is you do on OLX, 'cause OLX is where you can make friends 4 eva :D

They've also removed fine grained controls like selecting which area size(suburb/town/region/province/whole country) to search, now you can only select the search area via a pin drop on Google maps. You can't save bookmarks with your criteria selection, it's using some kind of HTML 5 or similar and the user selection isn't saved in the web address.

Considering the huge advert spend OLX has engaged in over that last year or so on TV etc it's bizarre that they'd leave the new site design in the hands of what I can only assume was their least favourite intern..

I've always been of the opinion that OLX is crap. For me its Gumtree where it's at
Gumtree has always been the king but OLX was starting to up their game, site was easy to use not bad looking then this update tanked all that. It occurred to me the update looks like they bought a template from moonfruit, it's so basic and crap

Apart from the fact that essentially you only want one trading site so you only need to check 1 site when looking for local cars etc the only advantage with Gumtree is they somehow managed to keep conman ads to a zero, looking for a car for weeks recently Gumtree didn't have a single dodgy ad, OLX had azzh0les posting new "bargains" every day, and their report an ad system is rubbish, they want your email and phone number to do the report, wtf.

I've never used them, but was redirected to them a few times.....weren't they always a vomit fest?

Looks like they discovered Polymer, and just used the standard elements from Google.

Anyone else noticed that the UI of the new site and the mobile app is exactly the same as that of LetGo?

That's a good point, wonder 8f they are linked?
Doea anyone use letgo, seems a little creepy/over social for a 2hnd trading site.

OLX's security claims are bs, we "verify" the users cell number, about as bulletproof as a rica'd sim card..

I thought OLX was a local concoction, that press release seems to imply its global and "no 1" in the world, for playing tiddlywinks? :D

Could somebody please tell me how do you search for an item in the entire country? It shows my location and then items around that location, I want to search country wide. I miss the old site. Thanks

You can't, the dim-witted idiots removed that functionality, you can only search via pin drop, ie you can only search around a location and that's it. I still haven't worked out what radius that search is either.

Wonder what went through OLX directors minds when they did this, they had such a massive advertising campaign and then this faceplant "upgrade"?

Other thing they've removed is being permanently logged in so if you don't want to connect Facebook you have to login via sms otp every single day, they naturally do that via a pop-up window, if you have popups disabled you'll be wondering why it's not working :erm:

Annoying how the mouse scroll wheel doesn't zoom the map but rather scrolls the out-of-focus main page in the background.

Edit: Dropping that pin wtf.
