[Duncan McLeod Financial Mail] The monthly line rental fee Telkom charges its customers is not sufficient to cover the cost of providing the service. Until now, this hasn’t mattered. But upcoming regulations mean it’s about to become a serious problem for the fixed-line operator.

Interesting.

What will they do?
Increase the line rental again. Well, that's the most probable short-term solution according to Telkom. They should actually consider lowering telephone rental and get more people onto their network. Considering the yearly drop in subscriber numbers, it's no wonder Telkom's struggling.

actually, the one thing they can do is bump up speeds and increase caps. That is what will make the package more appealing to more users, and it is exactly what I am expecting Telkom to do. It won't take much more personnel or input, won't cost them much more. But it will have the reward of luring customers back in.

Wish telkom would do that. I'm still stuck with a lame 384k and 2gb-soon to be 3gb TI account.
