NSA sets sights on social-network websites

Ya - they need to know everything about you - in case you're the one in 50 million who is planning a death blow against the american government.

Sheep to the slaughter. Next there will be involuntary conscription, fodder for the "global war on terrorism." Me thinks it is THEM in the first place.

Who doesn't? They should blow up that statue of theirs. It completely meaningless since they started taking away freedom in the name of "freedom".

I agree with you... I hope I never get to set foot in that country, they have nothing to offer anyhow, it just surprises me that quite a number of people here and on other SA forums seem to be "migrating" to the USA. At least here you cannot get sued for stupid ****!

Perhaps you should open your mind and go there. Not everyone in the world is the same. And know I can say the following with impunity:

I hate small-minded, bigoted fools.

I have actually, in 2001 I went there and oh my, what a **** experience. Packed up and came back home in 3 days. Nowadays if I go overseas, it's usually Europe or Asia :p

The person above calls me a bigoted fool but I would like to hear what he has to say about FICA and all the other **** that impedes on people's freedoms that originates from America i.e. DMCA, DRM, and all the ridiculous lawsuits and being open to being sued for any stupid thing. I guess the retort i.e. calling someone a bigoted fool is a knee-jerk response by someone who doesn't have a full knowledge of what is going on in the world lately and all the stuff that **** country called the United States of America is doing to the world i.e. fcuking it up! Said forumite must be an American, his/her response is very similar to the responses I've had over the years from real Yanks!

Let's go back on topic, we were actually discussing how the USA, once again LOL is impeding on people's freedoms!

I'm not an american but thanks for asking. I don't agree with some of the laws that have been passed in the US but its not my country and I don't have a vote.

I would like to hear how you feel the US is impeeding your freedoms though.

Could be, or it could be this:

I'll let the more sensible forumites decide...

Not all Americans are bad, just as not all Europeans or Asians are good.

I've met bad and good in all the nations that I've come into contact with, Bad Swedes, good Swedes, bad Egyptians, good Egyptians ect.

Only a bigot can say that they hate all people of a certain nationality, it's like racism, a racist hates all people of a certain colour just because they are diff from themselves.

Note, I did not call anybody a racist, I did however call bigots bigots.

So let the flame war start if you will, however personal attacks will be reported to the mods. Thank you and have a nice day :)

Is the above a threat?

I came here from the prophecy forums I see this place shure lives up to its reputation, but I am not going get involved in your flame wars, I simply won't post in this thread again there are other threads to post in.

Yeah bigot whatever, no offense taken, seems icyrus understood some of my point so in my books he scores some points and some respect.

American: "Hey, from which country are you"
Me: "South Africa"
American: "That's nice. Where is that?"
Me: *supprised*

This actually happened.

Anyways. How do America impact my freedoms? Who of you uses websites hosted in America? Don't you think that eventually that fact, might have an impact on you? Let's say your hotmail, gmail, newsgroup, blog account is now open to the american goverment, because of some new law (propably is already). Or you suddenly lose your account because they decide that foreigners is a national security risk. Or even worse, you run your company website from there, because of cost.

IMO, americans get so brainwashed during school, that they can't function in the rest of the world. Only a handfull, compared to the whole USA, actually gets out of america, and see other cultures.

America is waging a propaganda war against the planet - the disinformation extends all the way to the soaps!!! Yeeugh!! Check your facts - because if they are coming out of america they are likely wrong.

I wish america would get rid of the horseman of the apocalypse: bush, rumsfield, cheney and rice.

The world was a better place without them.

In my experience, Americans are no more ignorant or intolerant of other cultures than your average South African, European, or whatever. The only difference is that, for some reason, everybody is extremely worried about how much the Americans know about them, and extremely offended when it turns out to be nothing.

THEY'RE. JUST. NOT. THAT. INTO. YOU!

Why does it matter so much?!?

Try telling that to the Arabs. America thinks the whole world is a treat to them.

Why do they have to know anything? WTF have they got to do with anything? When they know your personal opinions they know who to target with their advertising campaigns for the army for instance (true story!) - when they know your opinions they know how to slant their spin the best. When they know your opinions they know who to target for added scrutiny - aah, joe bloggs doesn't agree, I wonder what his tax records look like? When the watchers are watching everybody and nobody is watching the watchers then there is no effective law because they simply make it up as they go along - the Patriot Act - the logging and storing of terabytes of personal data direct from the phone companies. Who's to say what they will do with the data in some future time - where any 'dissident' is easily targeted. Perhaps you should read the stories of added security checks on individuals at airports (true story) - for holding a simple political opinion.
