NUC/ThinkCentre Mini or SmartTV

Streaming netflix amazon and music and "yarr me mateys" from time to time.

Also want to connect a largish ext Hdd to it for music and movies.

I personally feel a HTPC will give me more options as to a smart tv....I can be wrong.
Get one, load plex, then the *arr band and you're good to go

Personally using a NUC which works better than the smart tv OS (in fact using them in 3 bedrooms as well). I'm using the celeron versions which seem to be doing its job, however I've just started using a new IPTV service and I think the celeron is struggling to keep up with the 4k content. I plan on replacing it with an i3 or i5 version in the lounge which should do great.

If not streaming 4k content then the celeron will do just fine.

Having had a few HTPC systems in the past, let me just say the UX on a smart TV is just so much better. It sucks having to get up / pull out a wireless keyboard every time you want to hit pause or something. I'd get a TV (either smart or with an Android box/stick) and then have a seperate Plex server.

I use plex client for kodi, so I just use the kodi remote on my phone, it's great.

plex + sonarr + radarr + jackett + deluge

I'd suggest the i5 Nuc. more versatile. Can use as a HTPC, for light gaming, for office task, the list goes on. Would love one myself.

I'd spend the money on an Nvidia Shield, no maintenance, paired remotes, regular updates so less hassle than a NUC and miles better performance than a Smart TV
