Hey guys

When cell number portability becomes a reality, how will we know what provider someone is using? I always check to see if I'm phoning a Vodacom number from my Vodacom phone, because it's much cheaper. Especially in Happy Hours where it's R1.50 / min, but R3 to other networks.

082 / 072 / 076 are all Vodacom, but soon they could be any network!

I agree with you!

How is it going to work......

ICASA is going to fix all the prices at one low rate :) I WISH! :D

You wont be able to tell. You will start seeing the cellular companies start phasis out the different prices depending on who you phone. VM has already done this. They will start delivering one set price which will be lower and lower. Also expect to see more free minutes and assorted benefits

I remember reading somewhere that they plan to implement a special tone at the start of your call when you dial to indicate whether the call will be on- or off- your network.

That's right, a warning tone (a single, high-pitched bleep) will indicate that your dialled number is off-net.
