Number portability

When number portability steps in, will it then be possible to switch from a contract to pre paid while retaining the same number?

Currently it is only the other way around.

You will be allowed to keep one number for life and apply it to any service of the same base nature.

you could retain the same number now. the mobile operators force a number change to prevent you from moving from contract to prepaid.
