Do I need to wait till the end of a contract in order to number port?

I HATE them with a passion and I think for own sanity, I should ;)

GOOD LUCK, you will be back like many other subcribers, because the deals are great but the service is pathetic. to my knowlegde you can port your number but vodacom will give you another sim that you can use until your 24 months is finish.

End of contract.

Otherwise you have to pay to cancel the contract. Don't know if they'll let you just keep paying the monthly fee till the end of the contract without a number :p

EDIT: nvm, see someone who knows beat me to it. Anyways...why pay for 2 contracts though?

You need to phone 0821958 and ask them when you can port your number.

hahaha i Just got my prepaid Vodacom number ported to 8.ta lastnight ......still have my Contract and BIS with Voda though.......waiting till Dec for 8.ta's Blackberry and Iphone launch....then i'll switch over my BIS as well

My Vodacom data has deteriorated from 2mbps/150 ping to 500kbps / 250mb ping in 8 months. There are drops, no throughput and other issues effecting it daily. Sunday couldn't connect at all.

Places that I got signal a year ago, get nothing or GPRS at best - making them useless.

And it's not limited to my house ; I went to Supaquick down the road to get my tyres change and could browse 20 minutes of the 50 minutes I sat there. It's 1km from me.

BIS is down about 20% of time - every day without fail. Yesterday I *watched* my phone from about 19:30 - 22:30 :

19:32 - 19:41 (9 minutes)
19:56 - 20:09 (13 minutes)
20:33 - 20:40 (7 minutes)
21:04 - 21:10 (6 minutes)
22.05 - 22:10 (5 minutes)
22.35 - 22:40 (5 minutes)

MTN can't surely be worse?

You may port your number anytime provided that it has been 2 months since your last port on that number and that you account is up to date. If you are still within your contract period, then you have two options.

1. Port your number, then get a cancellation quote from Vodacom and settle the remainder of the contract. The contract will then be cancelled. Vodacom will stop billing.
2. Dont cancell the contract and continue paying the montly subs untill the contract has come to a end and you can cancell the line with no cost to you.
