Number Porting on Contract

Hi,

I have finally decided to go for the Cell C deal for the SGS2 which I think is very impressive. There is however one catch. The Cell C deal expires on 31 Jan (I am not sure if it will be renewed) and my Vodacom contract ends 20 Feb. I have already cancelled the Vodacom contract and they have confirmed it will be cancelled on 20 Feb. I want to begin the Cell C contract on 31 Jan.

I have no problem paying the last month of the overlap even if I cannot use the Vodacom account as Cell C tells me if they give me a Cell C number and I port my Voda num at the end of Feb they will charge me R250 for a new SIM.

I have called two Cell C stores and one tells me I can port my Voda num as soon as I go on the Cell C contract and the other Cell C store says I will have to wait 30 days for Voda to allow my num to be ported as they need to make sure my account is paid up.

I have no idea how a num can have any bearing on an account as you can change numbers if necessary during the contract period.

Has anyone had any experience in this? My goal is to have my Voda num ported on 31 Jan when I take the Cell C contract then pay my last Voda statement (which is a debit order) on 1 March.

becaus the sim is on contract you will have to wait until its canceled and vodacom confirms its ported to prepaid.
then can you only port it to cell c
On your first point about the cell c deal expiring on 31 jan, trust me on 01 feb either the sgs2 will be cheaper or on the same price dont rush to make the deadline no mater what the store reps tell you.
