Two SLI cards with two DVI outputs each like the XFX7900 in an asus SLI board! Have video secuity software as bonus on top of it!

Um people, you can't use 4 monitors in SLI. <_<
You can have two cards physically in the machine, but not in SLI and you can use 4 monitors. You can use a 7300GT and 7900GT and get 4 monitor output.
Or just buy two 7600GS gfx card and just don't enable SLI. :)

Yeah! not in SLI mode! Read the last posts. Unless going PCI which is ???? the idea is to use a Mboard with two full X16 slots and a capable GPU's Depending on the application, we don't know what that is, commenting here is too vague. SLI was used as simple reference to indicate the type of hardware capability that would make it possible, and for that investment give you the additional functions of superb gaming! Could also have said crossfire! anyone knowing SLI setups know it is to use the multi GPU's to share their resources and computing power for a single game or application written to make use of the specific SLI capabilities!

How about 2 of Matrox's DualHead2Go (as opposed to TripleHead2Go which drives 3 monitors of 1 card) ?
Dual
Triple
I'll withdraw my DualHead2Go suggestion. Seems Matrox doesn't quite like it
Matrox FAQ said:
Can I connect multiple DualHead2Go/TripleHead2Go units in 1 system?
Although it may be physically possible to connect multiple DualHead2Go/TripleHead2Go units on the same system, Matrox does not recommend doing so. The Matrox Software Suite supports a configuration of 1 unit per system. Adding more than 1 unit per system has not been tested. Matrox does not plan to support these types of configurations. The DualHead2Go and the TripleHead2Go products were designed with a 1 unit per system configuration support model.
...but I still think Triplehead2Go would be nice, and should be lovely in an SLI rig. Who needs 4 monitors anyway ?;)

We will be going the Triplehead2go route. The unit is R 2800 inclusive and it would only be required to monitor network operations. The aim is to have 8 19" LCD monitors running of 2(3).

Thanks for everyones help.

R2800 incl ? Where you buying ? /me thinks about a "From Dad to Dad" ;) btw, I assume you're only going to run a single unit per PC ? This part "8 19" LCD monitors running of 2(3)" confuses me a bit

Simple explanation:

SLI is when you use two SLI-capable nvidia graphics cards for faster graphics performance in games displaying to one screen. You need a motherboard with two PCIe x16 (can be 8x, but must be physically 16x) slots and a SLI capable chipset.

ATI also has somethign similar called Crossfire, but it is slightly more complex and less than 10% use it compared to SLI.

Scalable link interface (SLI) developed by Nvidia to link two graphics cards. It just enhances gamimg experiance. But you need a motherboard that supports SLI. I do not know if its really a requirement yet. Oblivion, as far as i know, is the most advanced RPG game at the moment and it plays brilliantly on my Nvidia xfx 7900 gx and thats not even the best card out there

Many thanks,...supersunbird and SubLoony for the explano my card supports it but not the mobo....I'm not a gammer but am a Musician so I'm using 2 monitors, I thought I could use another...i.e.for extended desktop....

U dont need SLI for that, all you need is a graphics card with two outputs (dual monitor support) The best start would be the Nvidia GeForce 6600 gt chipset or higher. If you like ATI, the Radeon 9800 pro is a good graphics card that support dual monitors. But be careful not to get ripped off, shop around a little, you pick them up for around R700 and upwards depending how big you want to go
