Ok so I install CoD4 modern warfare and start playing. After about 15 mins the PC freezes. This has heppend before but I could never get back to the desktop without reastarting, until now. I got back to the desktop and I got this error:

Here are the things that bother me:
1) The error itself, what causes this?
2) The extremely high CPU temp, yes the heatsink fan is working and there is enough cpu compound between it and the CPU.
3) The Mhz what the GFX card is running at, 0Mhz, which suggests that it has stopped working.

This is what it is supposed to be (Oh and this is the error I get when I restart the PC) :

My Pc Specs:
• Sparkle Geforce 9400gt (512mb @ 128bit)
• 320 GB Seagete Baracude (brand new, bought on friday)
• Intel E4400 CPU (core 2 due @ 2.2Ghz per cpu)
• 500Watt Super silent Power supply
• Asus P5KPL-VM/S Motherboard
• 3 Gig of Ram (one 2GIG and 1 1GIG, both 800Mhz)

That CPU temp is extremely high
1) Looks like the CPU went into self preservation mode with the high CPU temp
2) make sure you have clamped the cooler down properly
3) I would imagine the speed is reported through the driver so when that crashes it will report 0Mhz

Are you running any chassis fans?

Yes, I have 2 LED fans (small ones, 12.5cm or something), and yesterday I bought a Windstorm case fan (4500RPM) but it is to loud, it sounds like my pc is taking off or something. I haven't tried using speedfan yes to set the speed, but maybe I should.

Also check what system temp the machine gets to.
General rule of thumb with system cooling, near the top of the case you want extracting and at the bottom blowing air in. Try get your cabling neatened up to allow for airflow.

Other than cooling problems try google any issues with your VGA / Mobo combination.
And turn off all overclocking if you have that on.

O/T:Congrats to me now a GrandMaster spamwhore :)

Ok cool, I'm gonna put on a bigger heatsink too, I just remembered I have one.

CONGRATS, I have a long way to go still, at least I'm almost master.

This doesn't cover the exact issue you're having I don't think, but they say to
remove the sparkle driver, use driver cleaner and then use nvidia's drivers.

Ok thanx, but I do have the newest Nvidia 186 drivers installed. I download the newest drivers from Nvidia's site as soon as they get released, so I'm always up to date. I have just finished puttong on the bigger heatsink and the CPU seems to be runing cooler. I also put in another chassis fan, now I have 3 chassis fans installed.

I'm gonna install speedfan now and see if I can get that Windstorm fan running at the right speed.
