Sorry if this has been posted before, but I'm downloading the latest nVidia drivers from the nVidia website and it's all going through my local account, sweet! Especially now that the drivers are a whopping 124MB!

Yes, been like that for a while. ATI/AMD drivers are too. So is most of Microsoft.

Yeah been like that since a year or 2 ago :)

for more local links , checkout LocaList

have fun

Havoc beat me to it :)

A couple of these big companies have their websites mirrored by Akamai - like nVidia, AMD & Microsoft.

Now even Google has their own local server, allowing you to view GMail on local cap (only if you force the DNS entries to the local IP of course).

yea I knew about Microsoft and Google and Youtube, just not nVidia :P

If you want Google on local cap, force the following hostnames to point to the local google IP address (196.23.168.147) :
www.google.co.za
www.l.google.com
www.google.com
mail.google.com
chatenabled.mail.google.com

If you don't have a router where you can add static DNS entries, then run 'notepad %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts' and add the following lines to the bottom of the hosts file:
Code:
196.23.168.147 www.google.co.za
196.23.168.147 www.l.google.com
196.23.168.147 www.google.com
196.23.168.147 mail.google.com
196.23.168.147 chatenabled.mail.google.com

shaunvw, only the downloads on www.microsoft.com are available on local cap, but not the website and its contents.

So you can't access it on local only, you need two accounts and routesentry?
Or is there a way to download using only local. Because all I want from the site is to download from it.
And I've got a Telkom account so I've only got local now. So how do I get to download from it.

No you throw it into a download manager like FDM and let it start the d/l, then you stop the d/l kill the intl dial up local and restart the d/l (complete restart, not continue).

Routesentry also works, but it is not necessary to install it just for this.

Thanks I'll give it go when I can.

Xzib1t, just add the adblock extention if using chrome or ff and block it out (but don't do it for everysite as it will defeat the purpose) :)
