That is the main reason, yes. It is also … the main consideration for the ANC to want the Scorpions to move from the National Prosecuting Authority [NPA] because we think that it undermines the principle of the separation of powers. You have investigators who investigate the case and take the case and prosecute it.

We think that there is a problem with that. Because when somebody takes a case, investigates it and passes it on to a prosecutor in a normal criminal justice system, the prosecutor can scrutinise the case -- it is the first line of check.

*largesigh* so the reason attributed to the high conviction rate of the Scorpions is the reason these fools want to change things?

The Amnesty Committee of the TRC today granted amnesty to a former Commander of the African National Congress, Umkhonto WeSizwe (MK) and currently chief of the South African National Defence Force, General Siphiwe Nyanda....

...granted amnesty for acts and omissions committed directly arising out of activities of the ANC operation Cetywayo in 1985 and 1987 in the then Eastern Transvaal.

Part of the operation was landmine explosions near Volksrust and near the Mozambican border, an SADF vehicle detonated a landmine and approximately six SADF members were injured. One woman was killed and an unspecified number of children were injured and damage to property was caused.

Read this story also. Seems like the should have vetted the force 10 years ago instead of now.
 
He sounds like bob mugabe, blaming foreign agents. What an arse.
 
We'll see what happens. The DA is planning on taking the whole matter to the Constitutional Court. Wonder what the ANC will do if they lose?
