Why would you want to win a World Cup playing no rugby, focusing entirely on defence and keeping the other lot out?

If this is what it takes to win a World Cup, New Zealand is better off without the tarnished trophy.

This glittering World Cup is no trophy of excellence. It's been dumbed down to a trophy of the basics ... who can deny longest, who can strangle the opposition, who can stop opponents playing, who can force mistakes from their rivals? That is what is required to win a World Cup in the modern game and New Zealand rugby is better off without such a devalued ambition.

My, my - what a nice straw man attack this is:
Never mind the frightening crime levels in their country, the nagging poverty and the alarming divisions between whites and blacks, between rich and poor. Winning a World Cup in such an ugly manner hardly reflects well upon either the ultimate champions or the game itself.

South Africa have now played in two Rugby World Cup finals, won them both and not scored a single try in either.

New Zealand got a lot wrong in their campaign, but playing no rugby, kicking the ball up in the air and just trying to keep out the other lot, were not their failings.

Heh, that would only be not making it at all but hey, who's counting? Still, he makes at least one point about the interminable up-and-unders - but if you rant for long enough, you stand reasonable odds of something you say being meaningful, even if only by accident. :D
 
Yeh, look NZ probs are that they seem to rule rugby in between World cup's and then when it gets to crunch time, they just bomb out.

So, each and every 4 years the kiwis need to look for other excuses. The kiwis arent really whiners, but this particular rugby thing has got them by the balls.

And as for the Topic heading, Aussies arent whiners mate. Far from it.

The All Blacks have won the World Cup once in the 1987 inaugural competition held in New Zealand and Australia. Apart from 1995, they've never reached the final again :p

What a bunch of losers.

Edit: Hehe, after I read your post again I realized you might have referred to this world cup, not ANY world cup :D:D:D

yeah this world cup

besides how long ago was 1987!!! they quick to fire there guns at everyone else but cant even see that they choke!!! like every time!

We won!! South Africa 2007 is now on the cup! NOT New Zealand!
