I was convinced to come to Cell C by cheaper(affordable call rates, everyday, the whole day) and my best friend.

When I told him about the problems I just encountered, he said: "Welcome to the dark side!" hilarious

Just an upside of the problems. lol

Regards

Seems old ginggs is set on moving anything that tells the truth about Cell C, so will try again.

The issues you are experiencing is normal for Cell C these days, they are unable to provide data on their network. If you can move back to your previous provider, do that. Rather pay the premium with a service that works for one that could leave you stranded next to the road.

I myself have massive issues with data on various devices using different Cell C sims, I've really tried hard to make it work but they just do not give me a good experience.

Just because you are having in a problem in your area does not mean Cell-C are unable to provide data on their network.

You are wrong, because I am having an issue in Durban North, Queensburough, La Lucia and Hillary with 4 different Cell C sims in 4 different devices I would say Cell C is unable to provide data on their network.

So would a lot of other people. But hey, we've already signed up so not much else we can do.

Getting over 6 megs in Stellenbosch.

Cell C is fantastic in Stellenbosch. I can play online fps games online with HSDPA+ and its perfect.
Unfortunately in Durban North and La Lucia I struggle for a decent 3G signal and data throughput. When I go back to Durban I need to find the correct person to talk to so I can get a micro cell installed in my home. You can't get any reception inside the house!

There is something called redundancy... I always keep more than 1 simcard with me at all times from all mobile networks.

I personally don't like CELL C cause it doesn't work inside my bedroom only in the lounge. If they improved their network without any hitch I will be happy

This is the main reason why I've decided to port from MTN to VC. What's the point of having cheaper rates but you get bad service?
Until Cell C sorts out these problems (which will still be a long) I reckon VC would be the best choice currently for voice.

I am with VC but too afraid to port my primary card cause I have never experienced any issues can always access BIS etc. not a frequent caller. ARPU isn't applicable to me

Unfortunately Cell C does not have the money to fix this. So, I'm looking at paying the penalties for an early contract termination to move mine over to Vodacom or MTN as well.

Stay away from MTN. You'll regret that very quickly.

Get a Vodacom and MTN pre-paid SIM and let us know how they perform in your 4 devices in the same areas where Cell C is bad.

I have an 8ta prepaid sim (60+60), and it works great. Reception in La Lucia has been spotty but it seems they have finally done something to get reception in Sunningdale better. Data speed ranges from 1Mbps (bad areas) to around 12Mbps (most other areas). I also ported from MTN to Cell C, and I've never had any issues with them so I will probably port back to them.

Unfortunately I do need data on my phone at all times, and Cell C seems to be great for budget conscious people who don't care to only have data some of the time.

Where is your evidence to support otherwise? Else please move your post to the O/T section as it isn't contributing anything.

As the person who made the initial claim the onus is on you to provide supporting evidence.

If you have insider knowledge that Cell-C have run out of money I suggest you contact RPM, I'm sure that story would make front page news.

You can read about some of their stats here. It's pretty clear that Cell C is in big financial trouble, and there is no way they have the cash to fix issues until they get bought out by someone else.
Strange though, that they are continuing with their LTE rollout, and have solved congestion issues in a number of areas (as reported in the No Data connection but full signal thread).

It could be residents in your area preventing the installation of additional base stations, difficult geography or lack of backhaul links (thank Telkom) that are preventing the problems in your area from being fixed.

I don't know, I looked at the last 3 pages of that thread and they were all posts of no data.

But anyways, nothing we can do about it. I vote with my money, and I was an avid Cell C supporter. Unfortunately my patience with them has run its time.

Data works half the time for me, right now I'm in the centre of Cape Town and only receiving Edge..

My patience has run out too, just glad I'm not on contract.
