"In a move sure to surprise no one, Obama has come out on the side of the MPAA/RIAA and has backed the ACTA: 'We're going to aggressively protect our intellectual property,' Obama said in his speech, 'Our single greatest asset is the innovation and the ingenuity and creativity of the American people [...] It is essential to our prosperity and it will only become more so in this century. But it's only a competitive advantage if our companies know that someone else can't just steal that idea and duplicate it with cheaper inputs and labor.'"

In a related story, the European Parliament said they would fight ACTA because of secrecy and various nefarious punishments and measures it seeks to employ against consumers. The Democrats show how liberal they really are.

I love this comment satirizing Obama:

nd speeches.

What he wanted to say was: "Our single greatest asset is the innovation of the American people.....innovation and ingenuity.....ingenuity and innovation. Our TWO greatest assets are the innovation and the ingenuity of the American people.....and their creativity.....our THREE greatest assets are the innovation and the ingenuity and creativity of the American people.....and an almost fanatical devotion to Hollywood and the RIAA.....our FOUR.....NO.....AMONGST our assets are such elements as innovation, ingenuity and creativity.....I'll come in again...

Haha.

Well I suppose the entertainment industry played a significant role in getting him elected by delivering the gullible youth vote. :erm:

As did big corporations assist Bush, gave 'em nice tax breaks too.

Yes but you Obama lovers all hailed him as the second coming. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Lol second coming? I'm sorry it's only Alan who keeps making reference to him as the messiah, or Obamessiah and I wouldn't really call him an Obama lover.

What exactly is the problem with the protection of intellectual property? Are we actually supposed to be pro-theft? I think the industry has gone a bit overboard with rights management but that seem proving a losing battle for them.

But that's to be expected he's Lucifer's offspring but this is the 'great dark hope' we're talking about :o

Every time I read one of these posts I'm reminded of the lofty days of anticipation as hope and change came to Washington. Liberal utopia was within reach. Seems so long ago now.

The ever devoted icryus used to claim "look only at his policies", well here they are.....

Claymore praised Obama's excellent choice of advisers and his intelligence at thinking before he does something while Chiskop implied I lied for daring to claim he had unsavory extremists for advisers. Now it turns out his advisers include a 9/11 truther moron, another who had advocated forced sterilization in the past and yet another who defended child pornography. Add to that the elegant intelligence of insulting your closest ally with a gift of region locked dvds from wall mart. Really thought that one through

Now Fudzy was it not you who claimed he would be a unifying force ascending beyond petty politics? Well bipartisan bitterness has never been higher.

I hoped he'd be delivering a lot more than what he is now. How is America looking now compared to when he first got into office?

EDIT: Ps. I do so enjoy your Rush Limbaughesque diatribes :D

Must be bad since even Dan Rather is exasperated
Listen he's a nice person, he's very articulate but he couldn't sell watermelons even if you gave him the state troopers to flag down the traffic.
