Obama clinches nomination

There is no chance in hell of Obama beating McCain. The Dems have picked just about the only candidate that can lose to McCain. While it is fine to say that Obama is the lesser of two evils. At the end of the day, one needs to pick the candidate who will win. The popular vote is just about even. Obama almost whitewashed Clinton in the 14 caucasus which favour his voter base so we have no idea what sort of general representation he has in those states. He is presently getting support from the liberals, black voters and the youth and how many of those are republican members? It would hazzard a guess that he may pick up about 20%-30% more voters in the election (above what he got in the dem primaries) and the rest are going to McCain or not voting. Be prepared for another 4 years of republican rule.

Sadly this is probably quite true. More flawed McBush policy in store for the US. Well they did keep voting for Bush, so no reason for them to change.

What really bothers me is that the US always seem to go to war under the republicans. That and there is normally some sort of recession. Just take a look how much Bush Jnr has messed up the economy after Bill Clinton.

On wars, in 1959 under Eisenhower, the US went to war with Vietnam. In 1990 it was Bush Snr and Iraq and in 2003, it was Bush Jnr and first Afganistan and then Iraq. So there is a 50% chance of the US going to war somewhere under a republican administration and 100% chance if you just look at the last 20 years.

You wouldn't vote for a politician that belonged to an organization that blasted racial hatred against blacks and had Eugene Terreblanche as his mentor but yet here you are doing exactly that with Obama. :o

ROFL. Kennedy attack on Cuba and Johnston uped the ante in Vietnam. Clinton attacked Afghanistan, Serbia, Somalia and yes Iraq. Roosevelt was prez for WW2 and Wilson for WW1. All dems :o

Why has she not conceded defeat yet?

It's like someone coming in 2nd in the Formula One but not admitting it at the press conference afterwards....No, I am still deciding what to do with my future.....

It's not the same thing. The delagates have just endorsed someone and can change their minds. In fact there are a couple that have already switched sides. Nothing is cast in stone until they actually vote on it. My guess is that there is a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes.

Michigan and Florida votes aren't quite settled yet. Some of her campaign members are threatening to take that further :o

Most of what you have mentioned are skimishes (WW1 and WW2 aside). If we take a look from WW2 onwards, there have been 4 major wars in the US. Korea, Vietnam, Iraq 1 and Iraq 2. Of those, only Korea was under Dem rule.

You can't really count WW2 as the US were invaded, and in WW1, their shipping vessels were attacked which drew them into the war. My history is not good when going further back so I will amend my statement to say "in recent times".

The super delagates are too scared to vote against the "will of the people" so they should be done away with. IMO, there are only two legitimate options:

1) Popular vote (by Dem members only)
2) Work on the same electoral college system as the election proper.

I forgot Korea thanks for that. Vietam was a 'skirmish' untill Kennedy and Johnston. Iraq 1 was hardly a war for the U.S at least. I'd count Afgahnistan as a major war though

The U.S was attacked for WW2. But according to some here they started it with the oil embargo on Japan.

The U.S or an ally was attacked for Afghanistan and Iraq 1&2 not much different to WW1.
