President Barack Obama landed in Cuba Sunday, marking the first visit by a sitting U.S. president in 88 years.

The wheels of Air Force One touched down on José Marti International Airport's single runway around 4:19 om EDT. Obama arrived with his wife Michelle, daughters Sasha and Malia, plus a delegation of dozens of U.S. lawmakers, 11 corporate executives eyeing new business opportunities in Cuba and a group of prominent Cuban-Americans.

"Qué bolá, Cuba?" Obama said on Twitter Sunday, using a casual Cuban greeting for "How's it going?" or "What's up?"

Obama lands in Cuba as first US president to visit in nearly a century

Barack Obama descended on Cuba with a pomp unmatched by the Pope on Sunday, becoming the first American president to visit Cuba in nearly a century, and the first since a revolution led by Fidel Castro toppled a US-backed strongman in 1959.

As he arrived, Obama used a Cuban phrase meaning “what’s up?” when he tweeted: “¿Que bolá Cuba? Just touched down here, looking forward to meeting and hearing directly from the Cuban people.”

“This is a historic visit,” Obama said as he greeted US Embassy staff and their families at a Havana hotel. “It’s an historic opportunity to engage with the Cuban people.”

HAVANA (TheBlaze/AP) — Brushing off decades of distrust, President Barack Obama and Cuban President Raul Castro shook hands Monday in Havana’s Palace of the Revolution, a remarkable moment for two countries working to put the bitterness of their Cold War-era enmity behind them.

As if the historic meeting didn’t anger his critics enough, Obama also posed for a photo op in front of a massive sculpture of notorious revolutionary Che Guevara.

Associated Press reporter Peter Orsi said there was a “collective gasp” in the press room when Obama paused in front of the Che Guevara sculpture in Revolution Square.

The reaction from other Americans online was swift and biting.

Castro to Obama: end the embargo and return Guantánamo

“I had the opportunity to discuss with the president other steps that could be taken to remove restrictions that remain in force and make a significant effect in the reduction of the blockade.

“The blockade remains in force and it contains discouraging elements and intimidating effects and [is guilty of] extraterritorial outreach.”

He says he told Obama about some examples of how the blockade hurts Cuba and other countries. “It would bring benefits to Cuban emigres who wish the best for their families.”

Castro also says Cuba demands the US: “return the territory illegally occupied by Guantánamo Base.”

Don Cheadle's 'House of Lies' series finale shot in Havana
The series finale for House of Lies was shot in Cuba and will air on June 13, Showtime announced Tuesday.

Starring Don Cheadle, Kristen Bell, Ben Schwartz, Josh Lawson, Donis Leonard Jr. and Glynn Turman, the comedy is wrapping up after five seasons.

Filmed entirely on location and directed by series creator and executive producer Matthew Carnahan, the final episode, named "No Es Fácil," marks the first time an American scripted series was shot on the island since the restoration of diplomatic relations.

"House of Lies is a comedy that has frequently been ahead of the curve," Showtime Networks President and Chief Executive Officer Nevins said in a statement. "Over the course of its five seasons, it has tackled such hot-button topics as gender identity, wealth inequality, white privilege, police brutality, interracial relationships, and code-switching with honesty and a biting sense of humor. Matthew Carnahan and Don Cheadle have been dream partners and impeccable leaders. The core cast of Don, Kristen, Ben and Josh are one of the best comedy teams on television. They have brought the series to an incredibly satisfying conclusion with this historic final episode shot in Cuba."
