The right wing conservatives in the Republican camp are up in arms at the likelihood of McCain being the Republican candidate for the next US president, due to his ' liberal ' views.

At the same time there is an even chance of Obama making the candidacy for the Democrats - allowing the possibility of him being the 'next leader of the free world'.

Given the verkramptness of the religious right, ultra conservatives, the proliferation of white power neo-nazi groups, the psychos and plain fruitcakes, are they likely to accept the most powerful man in the world being black ?

Just how long before Obama sees his grassy knoll ?

Footnote:
I don't even want to contemplate the fallout following the assasination of a black president by a white hate group.

I disagree with the word "proliferation" in regards to neo-nazi groups.
Yeah, they exist - but not to the levels implied by "proliferation".

Footnote: I would have no problem voting for him if his views matched mine (I do not follow US politics, so have no idea what his views are)

A woman or a Afro American will be a great step forward for the country.

I dunno are they enough leftwing lunatics in the U.S to vote for Barack E Obama

Also where are these all powerful 'right wing christian fundamentalists'. If they voted Dubya into power why is McCain leading the Rep nomination?

OMW what the load of BS

What does a person's gender or race got to do with one's ability to take a country forward?

*sigh*

I thought people had moved past obsessing with race and gender FFS

i verry highly doubt he is muslim, but his middle name is Hussain, which is kinda ironic, i would not be surprised why people are a bit suspicious of that, can't blame them too much.

oh, and Obama is not black, he is white!!!

He actually belongs to a dodgy race obessed church. Ironic since his supporters here complain so bitterly about Huckerbee :o

McCain has benefited from the Romney/Huckabee tussle.

Why would they vote for Romney?

Why would they vote for Romney?

Same reason they voted for Bush I guess. He's anti anything liberal, is in favour of destroying the ecology for gain, pro-life, pro-death, anti-gay, pro-war, and because a lot of Americans are simply stupid.

I'd vote for barack obama. He's just what the world needs, someone who's not so cynical. He may be a little naive but that may be a good thing. Anyway, even Jacob Zuma as US president would be an upgrade after George W. Bush

and what does Huckerbee stand for then?

LOL yeah and they're the world's sole super power :o

Because there are people (especially a few here, such as the above poster) that believe black people are incapable of running things.

I'm sure some of them also believe a woman's place is in the kitchen.

Quite simple really.

Pretty much the same thing except he's not a Mormon.

Which is a hinderance for him because Huckabee is a baptist. Mormons are not popular amongst evangelicals so why are they voting for him instead of Huckabee?
