OBDII Reader and Scanner User Feedback

I have a honda & a nissan. Prior to both I used a generic ELM320 cheapie on my colt and it was fine.
However it was not suited to the newer honda, and the nissan didn't care for it ( would not handshake). I tried multiple apps.
Eventually I got the viecar ELM320 and that sorted out the problems. it diagnosed the honda as an intermittent crank sensor issue, and also a fault due to the nissans battery being disconnected, which I could reset.
I would recommend getting the viecar before spending on a cheaper generic. Good luck!
I still have the older generic ELM320 - if you are in CT then PM me and I would be happy to donate if it would be of use to you.

+1 for viecar - I have one and a VAGCOM KKL USB based OBD2 - both work well on my Subaru

This is the kind of advice I wanted. It seems to be a hit or miss with the generic ELM327.

I use OBDeleven
I have able to activate
Needle swipe on start up
Left mirror tilt on reverse
Alarm tone beep on locking of car
Video in motion activation

On a friends car I activated
Needle swipe
FOG as turning lights
switched off brake pad wear light , common issue on VWs pads changed light still stays on and no it doesnt have the sensor you change with the pad my Audi has those.

That OBDelven pro sounds interesting.
" functionality of advanced diagnostic systems for all VAG group cars" - so aimed a bit more at VW, Audi and the like?

We have an OBDEleven for the Q5 (it's VAG only).

I have an HDS cable and old laptop for my Civic, as well as a generic ELM327 + Torque Pro that also works well on the Honda.

Pro supports Iphone, if you use an andriod get the normal OBDeleven no change in support or things you can do
