Good day,

As the title says. I need to scan our network and look for the hard drive models that each pc has.
For some obscure reason this is not something that someone tends to do.

I tried finding it with Lansweeper, but haven't used anything else.

Is there any free/open source solution that might help me with this? It's really not such an issue that I'd be willing to pay for this.

Thanks, :)

I'm not aware of anything free that can be deployed. That's what you need.

The best software I've seen is Newt professional. It isn't free. But it's well worth it. It tells you EVERYTHING about your pcs hardware and software.

HI. Yes you can

Download software called Netscan. Once installed click on OPTIONS and then REMOTE WMI.
Then select new, Choose WIN32_DiskDrive by the WMI Class and then click on MODEL. Then click on OK.

Now if you scan the network it will display the details. Please note you need ADMIN rights for this.

Lansweeper, did it not work for you?
Shows PC name, it's hard drive model and serial no, and size buy just selecting the report called: Asset: Harddrive Serial number

Would you mind posting a link? I get some weird programs/apps when I just Google netscan.
Is the network using AD?

You could write a script, pop it into a group policy and let it run when the PC boots or user logs in. Then drop the file on a network share.

Here are the commands: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/13774713/command-to-get-hard-disk-processor-spec-remotely

Thanks, but I'd like it realtime, I know it's possible.

Thanks. I checked for "model" on a custom report, I didn't see that predefined report. I was able to see everything now.

I appreciate it :)
