Hi

I currently have the Asus P8H67-V motherboard with a 2600K, which isn't the best combination since, to my understanding, the H67 boards are useless at overclocking CPUs.
These boards have locked CPU ratios no matter if the CPU is unlocked.

Can someone recommend another Asus board within the R1600 price range that fully supports CPU overclocking?

I am considering this and this

Any other suggestions?

Thanks :)

Why not something like the MSI Z77A-G45, which goes for just under R1500: http://www.msi.com/product/mb/Z77A-G45.html#/?div=Overview

You should really consider going for a Z77 motherboard, or at least first do some research on Lucid Virtu MVP.

I recently replaced my Asus P6T Deluxe v2 motherboard with an MSI X58A-GD65 without even having to reinstall Windows 7.

Thanks for the suggestion, looks good.

The only problem is that neither Pinnacle or Frontosa (since they stopped doing on-request items) stock this board.

Do you know of any other suppliers that stock this?

Thanks again

You don't need to go for that MSI one...
I just chose the MSI one because it was one of the only Z77 chipset motherboards listed at the online retailer + the MSI boards are always cheaper than the Asus/Gigabyte counterparts.

Unfortunately I don't have any contacts at the suppliers, except for Esquire.

Yeah it does carry a good price. Corex is getting stock at the end of the week.

Don't go for the P67-M Pro, it is a micro-atx motherboard. Are you using your computer for encoding and/or gaming and do you already have a discrete graphics card?

I do the odd video editing which is why I liked the improved encoding. I have a 9500 which is well due for an upgrade!

I think the Z77 sounds best bet for price. I found one for R1350 ex

Then by all means go for the Z77, but rather wait until everything's settled down and Ivy Bridge has released, before you buy your new motherboard. Then check the comparisons and see how they perform. Best bet would be to go with either of these in the following order :

1) ASUS
2) Gigabyte
3) MSI

Reason being that ASUS and Gigabyte generally offer better build quality and features than MSI ;)

I would love an Asus, but price is a factor here.

I'll rather wait until things settle, as suggested.

Thanks

Not true. MSI does not stand back for any mobo brand.
From practical experience building systems.

I concur with droid.

The past few years I've had more issues with Asus & Gigabyte products than I've had with MSI products (graphics cards + motherboards in particular).

The only thing going for Asus & Gigabyte is their local warranty, since they have local reps.

I have had good luck with the Fatal1ty Z68 by ASRock, although not a true OC mobo, it got me a good stable OC with air cooling.
