Octotel and an ISP

Hi guys I'm moving and have found out Ocototel are the guys running the estate.
Which company would you suggest to use as the ISP?
I'm looking at 100mb and am currently with Cool Ideas but they want to charge quite a lot for installation and I am not prepared to sign a contract.
So maybe Vodacom uggggg?
RSAWEB?
Advice please

Basic answer to both: HELL NO. There are many reasons documented on this forum why you shouldn't go for either of those 2.

You cant avoid installation charges. These are passed on from the FNO to the ISP. So you either pay upfront or you take the contract. The money has to come from somewhere.

You are MUCH better off sticking with CI. Otherwise I can definitely vouch for websquad. Their service and support has been top notch.

I'm with RSAWeb and Octotel and can tell you now, stay away. RSAWeb is terrible. Internet drops, you don't get full speed throughout the day and their service doesn't exist. Don't let the Google reviews fool you like they fooled me.

I'd go for Cool Ideas or Afrihost (as soon as this year is over I'm moving to Afrihost probably)
 
I'm in the process of moving away from RSAWeb - good-luck getting them to respond to any email after the sale. (even one month where I tried letting them know they didn't bill me).

At my workplace we have Octohell and RSAWEB combo (business as well) and lets just say i'd rather have Telkom ADSL...

It is so inconsistent then there is packet loss, international speeds basically snails pace, and all their engineers say is "speedtest from ONT is fine" meanwhile i am pretty sure they have manipulated speedtests protocols because thats the only test you get decent line speeds.

Onedrive downloads on a 50/50 business line often at as low as 500kb/s (only 4 people in the office all only on email). Connect to a VPN like warp by cloudflare you basically get no speed to it... and yea their "support" has been really poor...

I cannot think of a positive to say about either of these... Spoken to some "high up" people there who also promised to fix things but nothing came about.

You may wanna check terms and conditions of all the providers :)

Ours is a prorata clawback on R1500 over 12 months. IE if you cancel at month 6 the clawback is R750.00

We like to make this clear upfront to not surprise customers later in the case of a move etc

There is a load of startup costs with these fixed services and they are designed to be fixed over a reasonable amount of time.

Unfortunately with the customer land grab over the last few years lots of "free" startup costs exist. But it's on the principle that the customer will stay around for at least 12 months. Hence where the term clawback was born.

I hear you, I guess it just boild down to either VC now or Octotel and you or Mweb, but also just looking at pricing now and how much it would cost over 12 months VS upfront payment and no contract

I tend to agree here, and also the level of support you'll get, the majority of my issues over the past couple of years have been with Octotel - the issue I've had is getting the actual ISP to assist.

I mean - if everyone in the street is complaining, and we're all on various ISPs - its kinda clear the problem isn't on my side. (I've been told I need to leave my connection down for 12 hours with only my laptop connected to the ONT running WinMTR to proof the issue isn't on my side, this while the entire street is complaining).

So once the 12 months - clawback - has expired, you ask R125 less - R1500 divide by 12 months?

No prorated from start date, after 12 months there is nothing owed.

IE:
R1500 at month 1
R1375 month 2
R1250 month 3
R1125 month 4

etc
