I'm pretty excited by Oculus, has anyone bought the Dev Kit 2? There don't seem to be many people in SA with them.

I was tempted to aquire a dev kit, but decided to rather wait for the commerial release. Super excited about this product though.

I am seriously considering buying one, its only R4000ish + shipping + import duties.

but how many games can you use with it at the moment? only doom 3 ,

to pay 4k for a headset that only plays 1 game is a bit of overkill for me.

I would rather be thinking, I get to pay 4k for a truly new experience. And even if it doesn't pan out to be successful/popular, I still think it would be fun to have one.

Check out Pewdiepie on youtube, he has tons of Rift games, there has to be a way of getting content for the device!

Yeah there is a LOT of content, not just doom 3, additionally quite a few normal games are modded to work on oculus

The people buying the dev kits are not using them exclusively for games. So it'll be to play around with different applications and games. So things like a roller coaster simulator or a tour of the universe.

A guy at my office as the first dev kit and another has ordered the second, so it'd be interesting to compare (if it ever arrives and I get a change to play around with it )

Make it R10'000 with shipping. I was ready with my credit card regardless. But it hasn't been certified for any African country so we will have to wait another 6 months+.

If you get charged import duties that takes the price to 11 to 12k.

Not to mention lack of optimized games and I am assuming a lot of the compatibility issues the Dev kits had unless there has been a LOT of ironing
