First, the system specification recommendations:

NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD 290 equivalent or greater
Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater
8GB+ RAM
HDMI 1.3 video output supporting a 297MHz clock via a direct output architecture
2x USB 3.0 ports
Windows 7 SP1 or newer

Depending on your thoughts about how universal VR gaming is going to get, the entry-level gaming experience just got slightly more expensive. Still relatively inexpensive for what might be a quantum leap in gaming experience terms, imo.

That's if you want to run real life-like scenarios in the Unreal Engine 4.

Oculus runs ok on my

AMD Phenom 955be
7850
4gb RAM

but yeah gtx 970 will make things much better

It should basically be the same recommended specs to run games at the combined native resolution of the glasses right? If it's 1080 per eye then you're looking at 3840x1080 so yeah, 970 will be minimum. But that's just a guess.

I have GTX660Ti Overclock edition. Guess thats not strong enough?

Depends on what game and at what graphics setting. You get two kinds of people, those who want 4k visuals and an ultra immersive experience, then you want those who just don't want to get sick and play games with it.
