Sorry for the bump
Any one have an idea when this little monster is coming to our stores?
I've noticed wantitall are selling it at the 3.5k mark ( for the 120gig unit ).
OCZ Vertex 3 120gig Wantitall.co.za now I normally find them (wantitall) over priced and if you find the product here locally its loads cheaper. You reckon it will be around that mark or cheaper?

The vertex 3 will most likely be released next week sometime. However, it will take a few months to reach us. Expect it here in sa june july.

It will hopefully make Vertex 2 a lot more cheaper. It would be sweet if the Vertex 2 60GB goes for R700 at least.

Hmmm, screw it, im gonna get me one of these ASAP. I'v been holding off on buying an SSD for months now waiting for the Vertex 3. Im not about to let all those months waiting and saving up get tossed away just because its 3k. I'll gladly buy me one of these drives as an OS drive. The reviews on these baby's are just too damn good! However, having said that, the 120gb does have a lower performance than the 240gb, but im sure that in real world situations this is barely noticable. The only place you will notice dramatic differences is in benchmarks.

I havent seen any other online shops advertising these, so I will wait and see what other prices there are.

Sure do, i have 2 marvel 9128 controllers for sata 3. Unfortunately i still have a 1336 socket and havent moved to sb yet, so i dont have a native sata 3, but i should still see good performance. It will land up being much faster than sata 2, but slightly slower than true sata 3. I will probably give sandy bridge a miss and wait for the ivy bridge instead.

uhhh... Because its brand new, and the speeds are incredible? you can't expect a vertex 3 to be cheaper than the current vertex 2. But give it some time, eventually the price of the vertex 3 will decrease to what the vertex 2 is, and the vertex 2 will decrease as well.

Yeah, probably not that noticeable, but definitely gives pause for thought, especially when compared to other drives in the range. Anandtech has a good review of the retail (released) drives (120 Gb) (different firmware to most other reviews, and significantly less performant) - http://www.anandtech.com/show/4256/the-ocz-vertex-3-review-120gb.

I'm going to get the 240, but am not convinced the first shipment on the 21st will actually include them :( My long wait continues...

Im sure the first shipment will have a few of each. If the 240 wasn't so heavily priced I would also get that, unfortunately my budget only allows for the 120gb. It's still a lot faster than the Vertex 2's.

Anyone have info of the ETA yet? Suppliers don't know exactly when it will be available here.

Hi all

Anyone know when the Vertex 3 drives will make it to SA? Sites in germany, US etc. are taking pre-orders with a release of 21 March, not sure what that means for us...

If it's gonna take a while, anyone know of an online store that'll ship to South Africa? The above listed and others I've tried don't :(
Hi there did you find one
