Morning guys,

I have a client who has a Ipad, Huawei cellphone and a Windows 10 PC.

On all these devices are 3 email accounts. Using IMAP I can sync mail but how does one sync calendars. In its current form it doesnt work.

I tried www.syncgene.com but thats for like Exchange accounts.

Are you wanting to use a specific application?

Google Calenders should work with the syncing aspect....

But Google Calendars only syncs the gmail account you using, unless I done understand correctly.

Yeah, but if you use the same gmail account to authenticate with Google Calenders then it should be all good.

Your other option of course is to move to an Office 365 hosted exchange setup if you're looking for more than a single user and want shared calenders and all that.

Yea the boss shot the hosted exchange idea down.

Hmmmm seems to me like you need to tell the boss, that what he wants is best solved by a hosted exchange setup of sorts... if he doesn't want that there are compromises and the calender one is probably the most obvious.

Agreed.

Google Calendars can be shared and permission granted to share onto other calendars.

So each person each has their own Gmail account, but they can all see each other's calendars and even propagate appointments onto those calendars if granted permission.

Interesting, will dig further. Thanks

Will propose the idea of multiple Gmail accounts. Thanks Lion.

IMAP only handles mail, not calendars. GCal is an option, but it doesn't work with Outlook, so if you're using Outlook, that doesn't help at all (though Outlook can subscribe to internet calendars). The best option I've found for email and calendars on phone and Outlook is either hosted Exchange or Outlook.com mailboxes.

Thanks for the reply. I think im going to tell him what you reckon. If its not cloud its not going to sync globally.

You handled it wrong ... An experienced IT professional would tell the boss straight up what the correct and incorrect solution is.The only solution is Exchange / Office 365.No ifs and buts just straight to the point is always the best way.
