We had an impressive and unusual for PE thunderstorm on Friday night complete with lightning and thunderclaps.
Last night, Saturday, a friend from Walmer lower avenues phones to tell me he has just tried to switch his computer on and it won't boot but the power and disk lights seem normal. He adds that their landline was dead for about an hour after the storm but all's well now and his iPads wifi is OK, what's also strange is that the light activated security lights haven't come on but all other house lights are fine. I ask if any other appliances are giving trouble and he reckons not so I tell him I'll make a plan to have a look today.
About two hours later I get an SMS to say the problem is sorted and it was caused by a localised brown-out (low mains supply voltage) according to the municipality
... I've warned him to check for problems with appliances in the next few days that might be brown-out related for insurance purposes.
