Would love one of these :(

New revision of ODROID-C1 now has full sized HDMI port, heatsink and can be powered by USB port.

Sweet. Need one of these for Kodi. Anybody in SA bringing them in yet? Or is there a reliable overseas source?

You buy it straight from the Hardkernel site?
What did it come to with delivery?

Tell us when you get it so we know how long it took please?

Awesome. Can't wait to hear if performance matches what they claim. Especially for Kodi.

So the covers / cases for the Odroid are a lot more limited.

Unfortunately the nicest one is actually for a Raspberry PI :p

sweet. BTW, how's Kodi running on it?
Also, tried it with any H265 stuff yet?

So yeah, bit disappointed with the H265 playback. Even though it is supposed to support it and there are videos showing smooth playback, I haven't had the same results yet. Even with some of the tweaked versions of Kodi.

Everything else is excellent though.

Tested so far

Android 4.4.2
Ubuntu 14.04
Various versions of OpenElec
OpenMediaVault
Volumio
RuneAudio

OpenElec boots up much quicker than on my MX2 player and runs very well.

I use Kore remote on my phone to control it.

Well, H265 is still quite new, so probably need to wait for drivers to mature a bit etc.

Did some more testing. The H265 demo files play back perfectly, which means my other sources weren't encoded properly :erm:

Stupid question, but did you check resolution/bit rate etc of the demo files vs your own files?
Mind showing a file/ codec info compare?

I've really been considering one as a device for multiple repurposes.

Any thoughts on using the C1+ as a dedicated download machine running sabnzb and sonar, storing the "Linux distros" to an attached external drive AND using it as a mini NAS? Based on its raw performance and various comparisons around the net, it out performs RPi2 and BananaPi.

Secondly, for repurpose purposes, would it have sufficient performance power to serve as a plex/kodi server? Would it have enough juice to transcode h265 as well (considering the 805 chipset supposedly supports h265).

Are there any local retailers (brick 'n mortar) or local online retailers that stock the units and accessories?

Banana PI has SATA port though which is cool for NAS.

There is a version of Openmediavault for the C1 which has Sabnzbd+ plugin. Tried it and it works. Dunno if there's a Sonar plugin. No reason not to use as download machine. Will extract RAR files very slowly though. Have not used as a "server" as such. Haven't tried Plex.

No local distributors which is why I imported it.

Thanks for the feedback dualmeister. Completely forgot about the SATA port on the BPi. Reckon I'll get a BananaPi to experiment NAS capabilities (after experimenting with ODroid). It'll, at most, serve 2 devices simultaneously, so shouldn't have major bottlenecks.

Back on topic: Managed to find a local distributor for ODroid - Cyber Connect. Haven't heard of or used them before. They came in at roughly R1100 for board, case and power supply.
