What conversions, if any, would I need to do in order to use a car for off road racing? I imagine it would be car specific, so let's say for example a classic Mini and a Escort mk2. I have a mini at the moment, and want to get an Escort in the future sometime, and I'm pretty keen to get into off road racing / rallying

Biggest thing is probably suspension and safety things like roll cage, special fuel tank, 3-point harness, fire extinguisher, emergency cutoff switces etc.
Your best bet is to contact MotorSport South Africa and getting the regulations and info from them, you could also look at the FIA regulations. Go speak to guys at a local club.
