Yep. That's one of our plans. Why not rather rent the house out and emigrate. Cover some of your costs rather than sell it.

yes that's for sure.I have been renting out 3 SA properties whist living in the UK.
Its very stressful and time consuming having to live 2 lives in different countries. Sure the rent income is nice, but its not worth it, unless you have a trusted agent / friend / family that can actively manage the property for you.
why not rather sell the property in South Africa and buy something in the UK? at least you will have more controlI have been renting out 3 SA properties whist living in the UK.

Thats exactly what I am doing....why not rather sell the property in South Africa and buy something in the UK? at least you will have more control
Sales pitch, what is the difference in rate the other bank is giving you?If I may ask something, about home loans.
if FNB bank says they wont match the rate of another bank but their rate is competitive due to
“50% discount on your bond registration cost (excluding disbursements)”
Is this true or are they just giving me a sales pitch?
this discount is it available on any bank or just FNB?
anyone know what kind of savings this entails?

Actually thats what I did. Had a better offer from another bank and showed them. Most banks offers this (to get you as a full package client, as in move banking).
If you put FNB on terms and show them another rate, they will review it. If the “system” says they wont make much money out of you, they clearly can see someone who is playing banks up to get the best rate.
If you bank with FNB, and you show an offering from another bank, they would gladly review (to keep you as a client).
Thats my honest 2c

they claim they have a better rate as you get ebucks and this 50% discount
ThanksIf you bank with FNB and they cant give you the best rate of all the big banks ... it says your credit scoring to make debt is very negative, or the bank maybe wrote off debt!
Look past the 50% of your first debit order as its capped at R6000, but also the saving of 50% bond fees
Welp.
Just accepted an offer on our current house. Happened astonishingly quickly. Listing went up 2 weeks ago, had 8 viewings by appointment and received 2 offers.
Accepted offer was 3.5% less than our listed price but unfortunately subject to finance and sale of buyers property. Now the wait begins.
Still need to put an offer in on a new place but we have 2 we're interested in. The one we love will be a long shot though but it's been on the market for some time.
