We are busy packing up while we paint and do a fee odd jobs at our new house which we plan to move in to on the 26th November, using a moving company for all the large furniture, appliances and boxes.

Hows their prices?
mine is a 16km move.
In my case its deciding between hiring a moving company vs local neighborhood movers
 
My vote would be no movers, or as a second movers only for the large items and already packed boxes

They have a pretty handy and quick tool online that can give you an idea of cost... also very organised
 
I wanted to know a bit about occupational rent.
So I am hoping that transfer occurs end of November. If there is some delay and
if I were to take occupational rent in December and say transfer occurs in the first week of December, do I pay occupational rent for the entire month Or just pro rata?

Usually pro-rata.
Speak to your conveyancing attorney if you want to slow things down, they can do it for you if you ask nicely.;)

In my experience you pay in full and get refunded pro rata

There was none set. I had a lease that was only expiring in Feb, so didnt think I needed to take occupational rent. however it was estimated that transfer would conclude end of November, so I took early termination of my lease at the end of December.
I am now told that they are still busy with some clearance certificates and eta for transfer is 1st week of December.
I need to fix some things in the place I am currently renting and install blinds & aircons etc in the new place which I need to do before everything closes around mid December. So was hoping to move around mid December but sort things out in the first two weeks.
 
Generally you pay up front and they prorata it and pay back the difference, however its all about what is in the offer, and you can amend it on agreement, for example if you know it will only be a handful of days you could pay for say a week or two and then they prorata it based on when it registers but both parties need to agree. NEVER pay the occupational rent to the owner, always through the lawyers.

From a legal perspective you can’t be expected to pay rent to a then previous owner for the days following transfer. With the uncertainty of actual transfer it is reasonable to expect to pay full occupational rent to the lawyers and receive pro-rata refund where required.
In addition, depending on your bank, in my case, if the registration occurred after the 10th, first repayment only occurs in the month end that follows the month, i.e. end Jan, which is a pleasant reprieve with your planned renovations
